The health and wellbeing of the whole community is of utmost importance to the Colegio Colombo Británico. For this reason, the Security, Health and Safety at the Workplace Department and the Medical Department have joined forces to work hard on the development of strategies that aim to prevent the contagion and spread of the Covid-19 virus in our institution.

It is important to highlight the commitment and effort made by our staff. Since before the National Government decreed the health emergency, they were correctly adopting the Biosafety Protocols established by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

In order to guarantee a progressive and safe return, for the 2020-2021 school year matriculations, the School designed the following security measures that must be fully complied with by all employees:

  • All workers must have a Digital Health Passport, which is endorsed by ARL SURA and approved by the Mayor's Office of Cali. This passport guarantees that the CCB complies with all the Biosafety Protocols, which are disclosed to the employees so that they can carry out their work safely.
  • The Biosafety Protocols of any contractor companies that wish to offer their services within the CCB facilities were thoroughly reviewed. Therefore, it is an indispensable requirement that their workers also have their respective Digital Health Passports.
Employees must make constant use of the sanitization kits prepared and delivered by the School, which are composed of an atomizer with 220 ml of 70% antiseptic alcohol, two cloths for cleaning surfaces and two face masks made of anti-fluid fabric. Each kit contains its respective instructions for use.
  • In order to determine which personnel should continue working remotely from home and which are in a position to resume their work in person, a Vulnerability Survey designed by ARL SURA was carried out (taking into account the provisions of Law 1581 of 2012 regarding Personal Data Protection), which identified the individual risks of employees due to pathological preexisting conditions and/or a domestic environment that is vulnerable to contagion.
  • On a daily basis, employees must fill out the Self-Report form designed by the Health and Safety at the Workplace Department, which aims to continuously monitor the health conditions of all workers and thus act promptly in the event of detecting warning signs that could put our CCB community at risk. The collaborators who work within the institution can carry out the survey through their cell phones; however, in case they do not have the technological means to fill out the format, they can access a computer equipment destined for this activity, which is located at the entrance of the main auditorium.

On the other hand, during the registration process, which was carried out in person, some additional security measures were established in order to protect parents, collaborators and any other external person who required admission to the school. These Biosecurity Protocols are still enforced today, since they have allowed us to continue with our growth as an educational community, always putting health first:

  • The first filter to enter the school is the measurement of the visitor's body temperature, which should not exceed 37.4ºC. This precaution is carried out with certified digital thermometers, which are characterized by being very hygienic, since they do not have direct contact with people, thus reducing the level of risk in terms of contamination and spread of the virus. It should be clarified that the proper way to use these non-contact infrared thermometers is perpendicular to the forehead and 15 cm away.
  • The disinfection of footwear is essential, so Sanitizing Mats were placed in all areas with high pedestrian traffic.
  • Sanitizing Totems should be used, which are located in the areas of Administration, Human Management, Accounting, Medical Department, Main Doorway, and Purchasing Warehouse.
  • Before entering the restrooms, areas with high pedestrian traffic and classrooms, it is essential to approach the nearest sanitation station.
These are some of the measures we have adopted at the CCB to ensure the safety of our entire community. We can rest assured that we have very committed collaborators who do their best to comply with all the Biosafety Protocols and thus avoid the contagion and spread of the virus in our Community.

At CCB we put our hearts and minds into all that we do, and we are committed to the safety of our children and their families!
